Take to waves of mystery for this latest Mythical Beards adventure. Far beneath the dark seas lies the ruins of an ancient, but advanced civilization that progressed differently than our own society. A society representing a technological and moral utopia, before becoming corrupt and bringing about its own tragic destruction. Brought to you through another exciting collaboration between Passport Beard Co.’s Chris Helm and Mythical Beard’s Andrew Hennes, this dynamic duo brings you Atlantis: Lost Paradise.
Atlantis is a legend that has confounded historians since the days of Plato (or even possibly before). Some argue that Atlantis is only an utopian allegory that parrelled current places and events in Plato’s life, such as Athens and the Athenian invasion of Sicily, the invasion of the Sea People, the Trojan War, or even events that pre-dated Plato such as the Thera Eruption. Aristotle, a student of Plato himself, believed in this view, considering Atlantis was invented to teach philosophy.
However, others believe that there truly was an ancient but technologically-advanced, antediluvian civilization that was lost to the annals of history. Crantor, a student of Xenocrates (another of Plato’s students), is an ancient philosopher who believed Atlantis to be a truly historical place. Writings from Proclus reports on Crantor’s writings (which have been lost to time) which claim that Crantor visited Egypt, talked with priests, and saw hieroglyphs that confirmed the existence of a historical Atlantis. Most who subscribe to the historical Atlantis hypothesis surmise that Atlantis sat somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea area, considering islands such as Cyprus, Malta, Israel, and Canaan. The most recent spike in popular theory points to the Richat Structure, also known as The Eye of the Sahara, which lies in northwestern Africa. The possibility of some geographical error has been considered. Plato said that Atlantis lay beyond the Pillars of Hercules. Historically, Gibraltar was considered the site of the Pillars of Hercules, however, it has been discovered that the mountains surrounding the Grecian gulf to the Mediterranean Sea was also referred to as the Pillars of Hercules. If this is pillars that are being referenced, it would lend credence to the theory of Crete or a civilization living in proximity to Egypt being a possible site of the fabled Atlantis and that the civilization was destroyed by the Theran eruption.
Whether you believe Atlantis is a utopian idea or a lost civilization, dive into this intriguing new collaboration from Mythical Beards and Passport Beard Company. Atlantis begins with ethereal mermaid dreams, a combination of ocean musk, sea moss, citrus, water mint, with a hint of tropical florals, vetiver, and cedar wood. Mysterious incense and oud wind their way through this watery scent mixing with a spicy cologne of sandalwood, cedar, and spices. Explore the mythical depths with Atlantis: Lost Paradise.
